THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - Rebounding after a tough non-conference loss, the Yeshiva men's soccer team shutout Maritime College, downing the Privateers by a score of 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 13.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw production from up and down the roster, with
Josh Ziarno,
Franco Busso and
Andrea Lacche all finding the back of the net.
On the defensive end, keeper
Kellian Marty secured his third cleansheet of the season, recording seven saves on the night while not allowing a single shot past him.
With the win, the Macs are now 5-2-2, 5-0-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Striking hard and fast, Yeshiva seized control of the game early on. Just eleven minutes after the opening kickoff, Ziarno found his opening, expertly controlling a cross into the box from Lacche and slamming the ball into the right side of the goal, putting the Macs up 1-0.
- Not content to rest on their laurels, the boys in blue and white doubled their lead in the 38th minute, as a Busso blast from the left side of the box nearly tore through the back netting to give the Macs two goals on the day.
- Looking to ice the game early, Lacche closed out the half with a score of his own, setting the scoreboard to read 3-0 in Yeshiva's favor by the time the horn sounded.
- Yeshiva were not without their opportunities to increase their lead in the second half, recording eight shots, but none were able to find their target.
- Despite conceding twelve shots on the afternoon, including seven that were on frame, the Mac defensive unit held firm, keeping Maritime scoreless and notching their third shutout of the season.
