FARMINGDALE, NY - Playing in their final game of a three-game road-stint, the Yeshiva women's volleyball team fell to Farmingdale College, losing to the Rams by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Talia Finn and
Zoey Botnick, with Finn notching two kills while Botnick tallied five assists.
On the defensive end, the floor was held down by the trio of
Aleesa Elbaum,
Elle Ohayon and
Moriah Berkovitch, with the players putting up ten, nine and eight digs respectively.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-7, 0-6 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite falling behind early on in the first set by a score of 6-0, the Macs fought back, closing the gap to just three at 8-5. Maintaining that momentum, Yeshiva traded points with Farmingdale over the next few serves, seeing the scoreboard read 11-7. However, it was then that the Macs finally ran out of gas, managing just one more point as the Rams took the set, 25-8.
- Much like the first set, Yeshiva opened the second keeping pace with Farmingdale, trailing by only three at 6-3. Despite their best efforts however, the Macs could not keep up with their opposition's firepower, as a deadly FSC attack ran away with the set, 25-7.
- Relying on the offense of the Botnick twins, YU kept the match competitive through the first half of the third set, finding themselves down just 12-7. Any hopes of a comeback were swiftly snuffed out however, as a 13-3 run for the Rams closed out the period 25-10, and the contest 3-0.
