Men’s Soccer Suffers Second Conference Loss Versus Manhattanville

TEANECK, NJ - Losing to just their second Skyline opponent of the season, the Yeshiva men's soccer team fell to Manhattanville college, dropping to the Valiant by a score 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Offensively, the Maccabees only shot on goal came off of the right foot of Asher Martin, with the senior seeing the Valiant keeper turn away his strike in the 67th minute.

On the defensive end, despite allowing two balls past him, keeper Kellian Marty had a stellar night in goal, notching seven saves while withstanding 20 Manhattanville shots.

With the result, the Macs are now 6-4-2, 6-2-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Defenses ruled the day throughout the first half, with neither side able to generate any semblance of offense. Despite the Valiant putting up nine shots through the first 45 minutes of play, the Yeshiva brick wall turned them all away, ensuring a 0-0 draw come the halftime horn.

  • While strong, the Macs' defense proved penetrable in the second half, as Manhattanville scored twice in the final period, getting the ball past Marty in the 47th and 76th minutes of play.

  • The Macs were not without chances of their own to get on the scoreboard. Yeshiva managed six shots on the night, with Martin's shot halfway through the second half the only that managed to stay on frame.
