TEANECK, NJ - Competing on senior day, the Yeshiva University Maccabees drew with Purchase College, drawing even with the Cougars at a score of 1-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw their production from the right foot of
Franco Busso, with the former Skyline Rookie of the Week finding the back of the net in the 17th minute for Yeshiva's one and only score of the night.
On the defensive end of the ball, despite allowing a shot to sneak past him, keeper
Kellian Marty had an excellent night, notching seven very impressive saves to keep the Macs in the game.
With the result, the Macs are now 6-4-3, 6-2-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a game important for determining Skyline playoff seedings, the Macs came out of the gate rolling, taking just over 16 minutes to find paydirt. Receiving an excellent cross from Asher Martin that was placed right onto his boot, Busso buried the ball in the bottom right hand corner of the net, giving Yeshiva an early 1-0 lead.
- Despite putting up 11 more shots throughout the half, the Macs could not increase their lead, going into the half up by a score.
- Purchase struck back in the second half, securing a goal of their own just nine minutes into the final 45. This connection would prove the Panthers' only score of the night, thanks in large part to three clutch Marty saves in the contest's waning minutes.
- While they had their chances to retake the lead, putting up nine shots in the second half, the Maccabee attack could not connect throughout the final period, hearing the final horn sound with the scoreboard reading 1-1.
