NEW YORK, NY - Competing on senior night and in their final home game of the season, the Yeshiva women's volleyball team were defeated by St. Joseph's University Long Island, losing to the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Offensively, the Maccabees were helmed by
Talia Finn, with first-year notching two kills and an ace on the night.
On the defensive end of the ball, both
Moriah Berkovitch and
Charne Lesnoy tallied a solo block, while
Ashley Botnick led the team in digs with nine.
With the loss, the Macs are 0-11, 0-10 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Macs were simply outplayed in the first set, falling behind by 17 before getting on the board. While a couple of late 2-0 runs sparked some hope of a Yeshiva comeback, that effort proved too little too late, as the Macs fell, 25-5.
- Down but certainly not out, the Macs fought back to kick off the second set, drawing within two at 7-5 thanks to an offense led by Finn. However, that early success would prove for nought, as Yeshiva were held without a kill throughout the rest of the period and dropped, 25-11.
- Much like the first set, the Macs were outpaced early on in the third, finding themselves behind 15-5 halfway through the period. Yeshiva would only manage two more points on the night, ultimately losing by a score of 25-7.
