OLD WESTBURY, NY - Competing in their final Skyline match of the season, the Yeshiva women's volleyball team fell to The College at Old Westbury, losing to the Panthers by a score of 3-0 on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Offensively, the Maccabees were helmed by
Elle Ohayon, with the first-year notching team-leading marks of three kills and an ace on the night.
Ohayon, alongside
Talia Finn, also had a big night on the defensive end, with Ohayon popping up seven digs while Finn slammed down a monster block.
With the result, the Macs are now 0-12, 0-11 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- While Old Westbury jumped out to an early advantage to kick off the match, the Macs did not give up easily, scraping their way back to within four at 9-5 thanks to Ohayon's offensive presence. This Yeshiva grit would only prove so effective however, as eight straight Panther points sunk the Macs into a 17-5 hole. While two late 2-0 Maccabee runs thanks to Ohayon and Zoey Botnick sparked hopes of a Yeshiva rally, those flames were quickly extinguished as Old Westbury took the final three points they needed to close out the set, 25-11.
- A scrappy Yeshiva squad would once again keep things close to start off set number two, trailing by just three at 9-6. However, this score would prove the Macs' highest in the period, ultimately falling, 25-6.
- While three quick Yeshiva kills ignited thoughts of a comeback after an early 7-0 OW lead, those would be the only ones the Macs could manage in the third and final set, falling to the Panthers by a score of 25-7.
