MORRISTOWN, NJ - Playing in just their second non-conference match of the season, the Yeshiva women's volleyball team fell to Saint Elizabeth University by a score of 3-0 on Monday, Oct. 30.
Offensively, the Maccabees were captained by
Elle Ohayon and
Zoey Botnick, with Ohayon securing three kills while Botnick led the team with five assists.
Zoey Botnick also had a stellar night on the defensive end of the ball, teaming up with her twin sister
Ashley Botnick to notch 15 digs on the night.
With the result, the Macs are now 0-13.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both squads would kick off the first set neck-and-neck, seeing the lead change hands four times by the time the scoreboard read 8-7 in favor of Yeshiva. While an 8-0 Saint Elizabeth rally not only seized the advantage back for the opposition but put the Macs in a significant hole, the ladies in blue and white refused to give in, fighting back to the tune of a 10-5 stretch and closing their deficit to just four at 22-18. Unfortunately, the Maccabees would see their luck run out right before the finish line, as Saint Elizabeth claimed the final three points needed and closed out the Macs, 25-18.
- Yeshiva found themselves in a hole once again to kick off the second set, trailing by 15-4 early on in the period. While three quick points to push their total to seven showed some signs of life in the Mac attack, Yeshiva would only manage three more scores after that, falling by a margin of 25-10.
- While the Macs got on the board earlier on in the third set, trailing by seven at 10-3, they simply could not stand up to the Saint Elizabeth onslaught. Yeshiva were held to just one more kill on the period, falling by a score of 25-7.
