BROOKLYN, NY - Taking on a cross-town foe in a particularly spooky game, the Yeshiva women's volleyball team were downed by The Pratt Institute, losing to the Cannoneers by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw another excellent game out of
Elle Ohayon, with the breakout first-year star leading the team with five kills on the night.
Ohayon also had a stellar outing defensively, notching nine digs while teammate
Talia Finn wracked up her second block in as many games.
With the result, the Macs are 0-14 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite jumping out to an early 2-1 lead to kick off the first set, the Macs were unable to maintain their advantage, finding themselves down 17-7 after a 16-5 stretch in favor of the Cannoneers. While a 4-0 Yeshiva run got the Macs back within striking distance at 17-11, Pratt captured the final eight decisive points in nine serves to take the set, 25-12.
- The Macs came out of the gate hot in set number two, taking multiple leads at 4-2 and 6-3. That advantage would not last however, as eight straight kills from Pratt put Yeshiva in an 11-6 hole. While three kills from Ohayon showed that the Mac offense still had some fight in it, Pratt only allowed eight more points, coming out on top by a score of 25-14.
- Yeshiva continued to fight hard in the third set, keeping Pratt within range at 6-4 and 7-5. While a 5-0 Cannoneer run gave Pratt a bit of breathing room, the Macs still clung on, scrapping back to within six at 17-11. Unfortunately, Yeshiva's grip would finally give out, falling in the third and final set, 25-15.
