Women’s Basketball Drops Second Straight Road Contest At Mount Saint Vincent

RIVERDALE, NY - Closing out a disappointing 0-3 week, the Yeshiva women's basketball team fell to The College of Mount Saint Vincent, losing to the Dolphins by a score of 69-38 on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Offensively, the Maccabees saw another excellent game out of Daniella Bessler, with the senior sharp-shooter putting up a statline of 21 points, one assists and seven rebounds.

On the defensive end of the ball, both Sara Yolkut and Hannah Fortune had massive outings for the Macs, with Yolkut notching a career-high mark of 13 rebounds while Fortune slammed home three blocks on the day.

With the loss, the Macs are now 2-4, 2-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite early buckets from Bessler and Jasmin Maly-Danker, Yeshiva saw CMSV jump out to a significant early lead, with the Dolphins going up 12-4 six minutes into the contest. Scores from Bessler, Maly-Danker and Abigail Koenig did work to chip away at YU's deficit over the final four minutes of play, with the Macs finishing the first quarter down 16-10.

  • Yeshiva kept pace with CMSV early on in the second period, staying within five thanks to a fastbreak layup from Maly-Danker. It was then that the Macs ran out of gas though, seeing themselves outscored 15-2 through the final eight minutes of play, going into the half trailing 32-14.

  • Yeshiva's offensive woes continued in the third quarter, with the Macs being held to only seven points on the period to CMSV's 14.

  • While Bessler's brilliance managed to turn things around in the final ten minutes, with Yeshiva managing 17 points, their deficit proved simply too large to overcome, ultimately falling, 69-38.
