NEW YORK – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned a pair of victories over SUNY Old Westbury, both by 3-0 scores, at Max Stern Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon. Yeshiva has now won three matches in a row to catapult its record to 3-1 for the season.

In match one, set scores were 25-14, 25-15, and 25-5. The Maccabees earned wire-to-wire victories in each of the first two sets. Old Westbury (0-5) had a brief 1-0 lead in the third set, but three kills by junior middle blocker

Eidan Horn, and a kill by senior outside hitter
Benjamin Smillie sparked 12 unanswered points for Yeshiva to give them a commanding lead for good. An attack error by the Panthers at the end of the third stanza clinched Yeshiva's first victory of the afternoon.
During the opening contest, senior outside hitter
Amitai Kolom had six kills, three digs, and a pair of service aces. Smillie generated four kills, just as many service aces, seven digs, and two assists. Senior middle blocker
Shmuel Aberman slammed home five kills, anchored the defense with six digs, and scored two aces. Graduate libero
Avi Braun produced five digs, while freshman setter
Eli Waxman had a match-high 14 assists and three digs. Friedman provided four kills and a block. Senior middle blocker
Eliezer Benjamin recorded two kills, three service aces, and a pair of digs. Senior defensive specialist
David Cohen scored a kill, while sophomore setter
Zanvy Lesnoy tallied a dig and a block.
In YU's second victory over Old Westbury, set scores were 25-16, 25-11, and 25-12. The Maccabees never trailed in either of the three sets in the match. In each stanza, the Panthers tied it early but then the Macs went on a big run in each of their games to earn their second 3-0 sweep of the afternoon.
Kolom tallied nine more kills and added a pair of assists. Smillie had a solid match with 12 digs, four kills, and six service aces. Friedman had the best match of his young collegiate career by producing nine kills, registering three blocks (two of them solo), and recording two digs. Braun led all players with 13 digs, while producing three assists and a kill. Waxman and Horn each generated 12 assists, with the former having three digs and the latter slamming home two kills and earning just as many digs.
Lesnoy produced three kills and two digs, while Aberman helped out with three kills of his own. Junior middle blocker
Jonathan Werta scored two kills and had a dig, while rookie outside hitter
Eli Anina scored a service ace. Benjamin had a kill and two digs, while junior right side hitter
Eitan Cillo slammed home a kill of his own.
Up Next: Yeshiva will hit the road and take on John Jay College, at the Doghouse, on Tuesday evening. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
