WAYNE, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team opened the spring season with a convincing 8-1 victory over William Paterson University, at Dr. Ginny Overdorf Tennis Courts, on Wednesday evening.
The Maccabees (6-4) won all three doubles flights over the Pioneers (0-2) and claimed five out of six singles matchups.
"We had a nice match tonight, despite the frosty temperature," Yeshiva University Head Coach
Danielle Carr said. "Glad to take the W!"
Juniors
Liana Friedman and
Prisylla Mutchnik teamed up to win the first doubles position, 8-3. Rookies
Micka Mimoun and
Shira Adler won every game at the second doubles flight, while sophomores
Sarah Leiderman and
Sarah Grunseid did the same thing at No. 3 doubles.
Friedman was victorious at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Adler dominated at the third singles court, 6-1, 6-0. Grunseid won the fourth flight, 6-1, 6-1. Leiderman won every game at the fifth singles position, while Mutchnik won the sixth singles flight, 6-0, 6-1.
Yeshiva will battle Ramapo College, at Ramapo College Tennis Courts, on Sunday. The first serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
