Softball Drops Two Skyline Games to Manhattanville College

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its Skyline-opening doubleheader to Manhattanville College, 14-0 and 10-0, at Manhattanville Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Valiants (6-4, 2-0 Skyline) scored 10 runs in the opening frame of game one and never looked back. Senior Charli Shinstine and sophomore Samantha Walsh combined for a no-hitter with the former fanning nine Yeshiva batters to earn the win in the circle.

For the Maccabees (2-10, 0-2 Skyline), sophomore pitcher Alexis Leibowitz threw a complete game.

In game two, the Valiants' lineup had another productive first inning, this time scoring seven runs to take the lead for good.

For YU, senior catcher Chana Fischer reached base with a single. Rookie Yael Sabo pitched two shutout innings in relief.

Sophomore Emily Mottoshiski and senior Sarah Harker combined for a shutout for Manhattanville, with the former striking out seven batters in four innings pitched to pick up the victory.

Yeshiva will continue Skyline player with a doubleheader against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, at Long Island University Softball Complex, on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
