Softball Drops Two Skyline Games to St. Joseph's University Brooklyn

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both Skyline games to St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, by scores of 26-0 and 18-0, at the Long Island University Softball Complex on Thursday evening.

In game one, the Bears (9-5, 2-0 Skyline) scored 10 runs in the opening inning and never looked back.

For the Maccabees (2-13, 0-4 Skyline), senior left fielder Yael Dannenbaum and classmate Saraleah Lakritz each reached base with a single.

In the circle for the Bears, first-year pitcher Brooke Horn struck out 12 YU batters in five innings pitched to earn the complete-game shutout victory.

In game two, the Bears once again scored 10 runs in the first inning to take the lead for good. Junior pitcher Autumn Poppet and rookie thrower Leila Heller combined to throw a no hitter and neither gave up a walk. The former got the win.

Yeshiva will take on SUNY Old Westbury, in a conference doubleheader on the campus of Farmingdale State College, on Sunday. The first pitch is set for noon.
