FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference doubleheader to SUNY Old Westbury, 28-2 and 31-2, at Farmingdale Softball Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In game one, the Panthers (4-8, 2-0 Skyline) scored eight runs in the opening inning and never looked back. The Maccabees (2-15, 0-6 Skyline) scored their first run of the contest on an infield RBI single off the bat of senior infielder
Esther Miller that scored junior catcher
Kyra Appel.
In the top of the fourth, rookie pitcher
Alexis Leibowitz scored from third on an RBI groundout courtesy of junior shortstop
Jordyn Guritzky for Yeshiva's second run of the contest.
It would not be enough as the Panthers earned the win.
For the Maccabees, Appel doubled and drew a walk. Senior center fielder
Kayla Cagan and classmate
Emily Zrihen each reached base with a single.

In the circle for the Panthers, rookie pitcher Julia Pastrana struck out seven YU batters and gave up two runs (one earned) in four innings to earn the victory.
In game two, the Maccabees struck first in the top of the first inning as senior left fielder
Yael Dannenbaum scored from third on an RBI fielder's choice by
Esther Miller, putting YU up by a score of 1-0.
The advantage by Yeshiva was short-lived as Old Westbury poured in 12 runs in the bottom frame to take the lead for good.
In the top of the fourth, Leibowitz scored her second run of the afternoon thanks to an RBI single by Zrihen.
The Panthers shut the Macs' lineup down from that point on and earned the sweep.
For Yeshiva, senior infielder
Elisheva Miller drilled a single, while Leibowitz and rookie second base player
Tiferet Weissman each earned a base on balls.
For Old Westbury, senior pitcher Gianna DiLillo earned a complete-game victory by striking out five batters and giving up just one earned run in five innings pitched.
YU will host Sarah Lawrence College, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Bahoshy Field, on Wednesday, April 19. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
