MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing victory over Mount Saint Mary College, 9-0, at Brookdale Park Tennis Center on Thursday evening. As a result, the Maccabees clinch a berth in the Skyline Conference Championships for the ninth consecutive time.
"It was a great day for Yeshiva today," Yeshiva University Head Coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "The guys played very well knowing that a win would solidify our seed in the playoffs. Today also enabled some new contributors to be a part of our playoff push."
The Maccabees (5-10, 5-2 Skyline) won every game both in singles and doubles play.
Rookies
Jose Hambra and
Evan Kinches were victorious at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores
Pinny Balsam and
Gavriel Factor secured the No. 2 doubles flight.
In singles play, sophomore
Sion Jacobo earned the win at the first flight. Junior
Joshua Deutsch picked up the win at the second court. Kinches earned his second victory of the evening, this time at No. 3 singles. Factor also claimed his second court of the contest, this one at No. 4 singles.
Jacobo and Deutsch won the third doubles flight via forfeit. Hambra won at No. 5 singles by forfeit, while Balsam had a forfeit victory at the sixth position.
