Men's Tennis Secures Berth in Skyline Championships With Win Over Mount Saint Mary College

MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing victory over Mount Saint Mary College, 9-0, at Brookdale Park Tennis Center on Thursday evening. As a result, the Maccabees clinch a berth in the Skyline Conference Championships for the ninth consecutive time.

"It was a great day for Yeshiva today," Yeshiva University Head Coach Jon Rubinstein said. "The guys played very well knowing that a win would solidify our seed in the playoffs. Today also enabled some new contributors to be a part of our playoff push."

The Maccabees (5-10, 5-2 Skyline) won every game both in singles and doubles play.

Rookies Jose Hambra and Evan Kinches were victorious at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Pinny Balsam and Gavriel Factor secured the No. 2 doubles flight.

In singles play, sophomore Sion Jacobo earned the win at the first flight. Junior Joshua Deutsch picked up the win at the second court. Kinches earned his second victory of the evening, this time at No. 3 singles. Factor also claimed his second court of the contest, this one at No. 4 singles.

Jacobo and Deutsch won the third doubles flight via forfeit. Hambra won at No. 5 singles by forfeit, while Balsam had a forfeit victory at the sixth position.

The Maccabees will compete in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championships on Tuesday, April 25. Opponent, location, and time are to be determined. For the latest updates, check out YUmacs.com as well as our social media channels.
