BRONX – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its Skyline Conference doubleheader to Purchase College, 14-0 and 19-0, at Bahoshy Field on Sunday evening.
In game one, rookie pitcher
Alexis Leibowitz retired the Panthers (6-13, 4-6 Skyline) in order during the top of the first inning. However, Purchase tacked on two runs in the second and then broke the game open with eight runs in the third, on its way to the shutout victory.
For the Maccabees (2-19, 0-10 Skyline), Leibowitz and senior outfielder
Yael Dannenbaum each drew a walk, with the latter stealing a base. Senior catcher
Chana Fischer also stole a base.
In game two, the Panthers scored eight runs in the first, and then seven more in the second, to take the lead for good. For YU, Dannenbaum, rookie infielder
Chana Karasik, and senior third-base player
Danielle Hornstein each earned a base on balls. Senior second-base player
Esther Miller drew a walk.
For the evening, senior Tara Sasso threw a pair of no hitters for Purchase.
In between games, Yeshiva honored ten of its softball graduating seniors,

Saraleah Lakritz, Fischer,

Esther Miller, and Dannenbaum with a ceremony.
Yeshiva will take on Lehman College, in a non-conference doubleheader at Lehman College South Field, on Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
