BRONX – The Yeshiva University softball team dropped both ends of its non-conference doubleheader to Lehman College, by identical scores of 17-0, at Lehman College South Field on Thursday evening.

In game one, Lehman (6-16) scored nine runs in the first inning and never looked back. In the second contest, the Lightning added four runs in the opening inning to take the lead for good.

For the Maccabees, senior third-base player Danielle Hornstein drew a walk. Rookie pitcher Alexis Leibowitz threw two complete games and struck out a batter in the second end of the doubleheader.

For the Lightning, sophomore pitcher Samantha Nazar tossed two no hitters and struck out nine batters in each game. At the plate, junior center fielder Lizbeth Perez hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning of game one.

It will be a quick turnaround for Yeshiva as the Macs will battle the Rams of Farmingdale State College, in a Skyline doubleheader at Farmingdale State Softball Stadium, on Friday morning. First pitch is set for 10:00 a.m.
