BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Taking the field for the first time in 2023, the Yeshiva women's soccer team were taken down by St. Joseph's University - Brooklyn, falling to the Bears by a score of 4-0 on Friday, Sept. 1.
Goalkeeper Maayan Berkowitz proved a bright spot for the Maccabees, standing up to a ferocious SJU attack and not backing down. Despite facing 24 shots throughout the course of the game, the sophomore turned away all but four, notching four saves on the day.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-1 on the season, and 0-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Evenly matched throughout the first half, both squads saw their defenses stand firm, as the two sides went into halftime tied at 0-0.
- Despite their defensive success in the first half, the Macs could not maintain the same production in the second. Yeshiva conceded four goals in the final 45 minutes, ultimately leaving Brooklyn with a 4-0 loss.
