OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Capturing their second straight conference win, the Yeshiva men's soccer team laid out The College at Old Westbury, defeating the Panthers by a score of 3-0.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw three different players find paydirt, with
Asher Martin,
Franco Busso and
Rafael Cohen all adding to Yeshiva's dominant win.
On the defensive end,
Kellian Marty secured his second consecutive clean sheet, notching five saves while the Mac defensive unit held Old Westbury to just 13 shots overall.
With the victory, Yeshiva improves to 4-1-2, 4-0-2 in conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Proving in control of the game from the get-go, the Macs put up two goals in just the first 30 minutes of play.
- Yeshiva's first score came in the 17th minute, when off of a pass from Alejandro Saul, Martin slammed the ball into the back of the net, his first goal of the season.
- Just over ten minutes later, the Macs doubled their lead when Busso snagged a ball from Josh Ziarno, burying his shot past the outstretched hand of the keeper for Yeshiva's second goal of the night.
- Already with a comfortable lead, the Macs decided to add one more before halftime, as Cohen capitalized on a perfect pass from Busso for the squad's third and final score.
- While Yeshiva had chances to score in the second half, tallying eight shots over the 45 minutes, they chose not to, deciding instead to sub off their starting attackers and instead give their bench players valuable playing time in a game already well in hand.
- The Macs proved dominant on both sides of the ball, doubling up their opponent when it came on-target shots by a margin of 10 to five, as well as drawing six corner kicks while OW managed just one.
