NEWBURGH, NY - Still looking for their first win of the season, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to Mount Saint Mary College, losing the Knights by a score of 71-22 on Sunday, Nov. 24.
Offensively, the Maccabees' lead scorer was
Jasmin Maly-Danker, with the guard putting up eight points.
On defense, YU saw a stellar performance out of
Fortune Hanan, with the Brooklyn native tallying a stat line of eight rebounds, one steal and one block.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-4, 0-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva struggled to put up points early, not tallying their first basket until Daniella Bessler splashed in a three with 6:27 remaining. Even with slump-breaking bucket, the Macs could not break double digits through ten minutes of play, closing out the quarter down, 17-6.
- With a late fastbreak layup from Tali Cohen finally got YU into a double-digit point total, YU's offensive woes persisted throughout the second quarter, going into the half trailing Mount Saint Mary by a score of 43-10.
- Yeshiva managed just one point in the third quarter, with the scoreboard reading 61-11 at period end.
- While the Maccabee attack finally found some rhythm in the final quarter, seeing baskets out of Maly-Danker, Sigman and Shai Rahamim, the effort was not enough to overcome the Knight's insurmountable lead, as the game closed with a final score of 71-22.
