PURCHASE, NY - Taking on their final road contest of the season, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell to Purchase College, losing to the Panthers by a score of 3-0 on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Across the board, the Maccabees were helmed by
Shany Elmaleh, with the junior leading the team in every statistical category. Over three sets she posted a statline of six kills, two aces, four assists and 11 digs.
With the loss, the Macs are now 2-12, 0-9 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite taking an early 2-0 lead, the Macs struggled in the first set. Yeshiva were held to just six kills, dropping the period by a score of 25-11.
- The Maccabees were able to be more competitive in set number two, leveling the score early on at 7-all thanks to kills from Candace Villavicencio and Ashley Botnick. However, from there the YU offense was unable to keep up with the Purchase attack, falling, 25-15.
- Mirroring the first set, Yeshiva fell behind early in set three, trailing 12-6 through the first 18 serves. Back-to-back Elmaleh service aces and a kill from Talia Finn allowed the Macs to crack a double digit point total in the period, but were not enough to overcome an inexorable Panther squad, ultimately losing the set, 25-14.
