NEW YORK, NY - Facing off against a cross-town rival, the Yeshiva Ice Hockey team felled The City College on New York, defeating the Beavers by a score of 10-4 on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Â
Beni Froom registered a program-best four goals as the Yeshiva University men's ice hockey team defeated CCNY, 10-4, Tuesday evening at Riverbank Park Rink. The win, already the second of the young season for the upstart MACS, comes two days following the program's first victory on Feb 4 against NJIT.
Â
After a scoreless first period, Ezra Nussbaum found Yoni Berger and Froom for a pair goals, and then Coby Cohen added a tally to give the team a 3-0 lead. A CCNY goal closed the gap to 3-1, but after an ensuing goal by Froom, Nussbaum and Froom found the back of the net to give the MACS a commanding 6-1 lead after the second period and they never looked back.
Â
Goaltender Matthew Loren faced several difficult chances and was a key factor in holding the Beavers to a single tally through the first two periods. Captain Sol Feder helped key the offensive barrage, setting up William Jacob and Eytan Ghermezian for their first collegiate goals.
Â
"Thrilled with the team effort, we're ecstatic to get this road win," Froom said.
Â
The Macs (2-1) return to action on Thursday, Feb 15, for their home opener against St. Thomas Aquinas. Puck drops at 8:30 PM at Mackay Arena in Englewood, NJ.
