Women’s Basketball Struggles at SJBK

BROOKLYN, NY - Closing out the week at a conference rival, the Yeshiva women's basketball team fell to St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, losing to the Bears by a score of 91-35 on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Offensively, the Maccabees were led by Shai Rahamim, with the senior posting 15 points and two assists on the night.

On the defensive end, Sara Yolkut had a stellar night, posting a team-high mark of two steals alongside five rebounds.

With the loss, the Macs are now 8-14, 6-11 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • While buckets from Rahmim and Yuval Nitzan allowed the Macs to be competitive through the first three minutes of play, managing even to take a brief lead at 5-4, Yeshiva quickly fell behind, closing out the quarter with only nine points to SJBK's 24.

  • The Macs were able to hit double digits come the second quarter, even breaking into the 20's. Yet, they could not catch St. Joseph's attack, trailing 47-20 as the halftime horn sounded.

  • Yeshiva's gap only widened in the second half, managing just 15 more points over 20 minutes of play. By the time the game was over, they had lost by a score of 91-35.
