Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men’s Volleyball Downed by Pratt

BROOKYLN, NY - Still looking for their first win of the season, the Yeshiva men's volleyball team fell to The Pratt Institute, losing to the Cannoneers by a set score of 3-0 on Monday, Feb. 12.

Offensively, the Macs were helmed by the duo of Andrew Pinchot and Eli Waxman, with Pinchot tallying six kills while Waxman led the team with 11 assists.

Waxman and Pinchot also had an excellent outing defensively, as both joined Jonathan Werta with two solo blocks on the day.

With the loss, the Macs are now 0-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both squads kicked off the first set trading points back and forth, with YU trailing right behind Pratt at 6-5 following the first 11 serves. However, it was then that the Cannoneers were able to secure separation. Yeshiva was held to only 11 more points over the period, as Pratt ran away with the set, 25-13.

  • Looking to put up more of a fight, the Macs jumped out to an early lead in set number two, seizing their 7-4 advantage off of kills from Pinchot. A 7-0 Pratt run snatched the edge back from Yeshiva, yet YU continued to fight, coming within three points of their opponent at 23-20. The Macs could not close out the comeback though, as two back-to-back kills secured the set for Pratt.

  • Jumping out again to an early lead behind kills from Pinchot, Waxman, Amiti Trabelsi and Lavi Friedman, the Macs maintained their edge through the halfway point of the set, leading 15-13. It was then however that the YU attack ran out of gas, managing just two more points as Pratt came out on top 25-17, and took the match 3-0.
