Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis Falls to Oneonta at Home

EDGEWATER, NJ - Kicking off two days of back-to-back matches, the Yeshiva men's tennis team lost to SUNY Oneonta, falling to the Red Dragons by a score of 8-1 on Tuesday, Mar. 13.

Struggling early, the Maccabees dropped all three doubles matches, going into singles trailing 3-0. While the Macs were finally able to pick up a point in singles play, that win would prove their only one, ultimately dropping the match.

With the loss, the Macs are 1-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
  • Yeshiva stumbled in doubles play, with the pairs of Mark Adler/Jacob Pfeifer and David Cattan/Leo Rahmey both falling by scores of 8-0 and 8-5 respectively.

  • YU's best chance to pick up a point came in the No. 3 seeded match, where the duo of Israel Bussu/Ronen Rozenman battled hard against their opponents, yet ultimately came up one game short at 8-7.

  • With the losses, the Macs went into singles down, 3-0.

Singles:
  • Despite their best efforts, the Maccabees were only able to capture one point in singles play, when Bussu trounced his foe in the No. 5 seeded match, 6-4, 7-5.

  • Yeshiva's best shot at a second score came in the No. 2 match. After splitting the first two sets with the Oneonta player, Pfeifer battled hard in the third set tiebreaker, yet came up short at 10-7.

  • Cattan (6-1, 6-2), Adler (6-1, 6-1), Rahmey (6-1, 6-1) and Jose Hambra (6-1, 6-0) all fell in straight sets.
