BRONX, NY - Facing off against their final non-conference opponent before the beginning of Skyline play, the Yeshiva softball team dropped a doubleheader versus Baruch College, losing to the Bearcats by scores of 17-0 and 15-1.
Â
Offensively, Yeshiva's lone run came in game two, when
Kyra Appel rounded home in the fourth inning.
Â
From the circle, the Maccabees saw an excellent day out of
Rebecca Kalmar. The first-year player pitched four innings across both games, conceding nine hits and four earned runs.
Â
With the losses, the Macs are 0-8 on the season.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 17-0)
- The Macs gave up runs in all five innings of game one, surrendering five in the first, three in the second, six in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Â
- Yeshiva got one woman on base, seeing Appel draw a walk.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 15-1)
- Turning around their fortunes slightly from last game, YU put up a run in game two. After drawing a walk and advancing to second when Linda Dayan drew one of her own, Appel took full advantage of a Farmingdale error, rounding home for Yeshiva's first score of the afternoon.
Â
- However, the Macs' offensive success was not enough to compete with Baruch's attack. The Bearcats scored in all but one inning, putting up eight runs in the first, four in the second, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
