PURCHASE, NY - Taking on a conference foe, the Yeshiva softball team dropped a double header at Purchase College, falling to the Panthers by scores of 13-1 and 12-0 on Wednesday, Apr. 11.
Â
The Maccabees' lone run came in game one, when
Kyra Appel brought
Tova Hakakian home.
Â
With the losses, the Macs are now 0-22, 0-12 in conference play.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 13-1)
- The Macs struck first in game one, taking an early lead in the top of the first inning. After drawing a walk, Hakakian took full advantage of her speed as well as a well-placed double by Appel to come sprinting home, jumping Yeshiva out in front, 1-0.
Â
- YU's lead would not last however, as the Maccabees conceded one run in the bottom of the first, three in the second, five in the third, and four in the fourth.
Â
MAC LEADERS
- Runs: Hakakian (1)
- Hits: Appel (1), Glantz (1)
- RBIs: Appel (1)
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 12-0)
- Unable to recapture the early success of game one, the Maccabee offense struggled in game two, unable to register a hit through five innings.
Â
- Unfortunately, the Macs' defensive unit did not fare much better, allowing nine runs in the first and three in the second.
Â
- YU were not without their chances to put up points, with Beth Glantz drawing a walk in the third inning, and then advancing to second on a wild pitch. However, she would be left stranded following a Maccabee strikeout.
