Men’s Tennis Drops Season’s First Conference Match

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Taking on their first Skyline opponent of the season, the Yeshiva men's tennis team fell to Farmingdale State College, losing to the Rams by a score of 9-0 on Monday, Apr. 1.

Falling behind early, the Maccabees dropped all three doubles matchups, going into singles down 3-0. Unfortunately, YU could not right the ship in singles play, dropping their six contests to close out the dual match, 9-0.

With the loss, the Macs are now 2-7, 0-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
  • The Macs saw two quick losses to start off play versus the Rams, as the pairs of David Cattan/Israel Bussu and Leo Rahmey/Joshua Deutsch fell by scores of 8-1 and 8-2 respectively.

  • Yeshiva's most competitive bout came in the No. 1 seeded match, when the duo of Jacob Pfier and Mark Adler took multiple games off their opponents. The effort was not enough to pick up the win however, as the Macs were eventually downed, 8-4.

  • With the losses, the Maccabees went into singles trailing, 3-0.

Doubles:
  • Despite their best efforts, Yeshiva was not able to stand up to the offensive firepower of the Farmingdale's rackets.

  • Pfeifer (6-0, 6-1), Cattan (6-0, 6-4), Adler (6-4, 6-1), Rahmey (6-1, 6-0), Bussu (6-1, 6-2) and Deutsch (6-4, 6-2) all fell in straight sets.
