FARMINGDALE, NY - Falling to their first Skyline opponent of the season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team were downed by Farmingdale State College, losing to the Rams by a score of 3-1 on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw their lone goal come off the right foot of
Frederico Dorra, relying on assists from
Franco Busso and
Andrea Lacche to find the back of the net. On top of getting the Macs n the board, Dorra's strike carried added weight, marking his first goal in a YU uniform.
On the defensive side of the ball, keeper
Kellian Marty had a stellar outing for YU, tallying 10 saves on the day.
With the loss, the Macs are now 2-2-1, 2-1-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite putting up 10 shots collectively, both squads were held scoreless through the first forty minutes of play. Farmingdale finally broke through in the 41st minute, sneaking the ball past Marty to go up 1-0, a line that would hold into the break.
- Farmingdale continued to grow their lead in the second half, scoring in the 51st and 56th minutes for a 3-0 advantage.
- Yeshiva were finally able to respond in 86th, when Dorra took full advantage of a deflection off Lacche and a pass from Busso to bury the ball in the back of the net, shrinking YU's deficit to 2. However, this effort would not be enough to overcome Farmingdale's already insurmountable lead, as the Macs fell 3-1.
- A game plagued by foul trouble, the Maccabees were forced to play the majority of the second half with just 10 men after Lotan Sapir drew a red card in the 51st minute.
