NEW YORK, NY - Taking on the reigning Skyline Conference Champions, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell to Manhattanville University, losing to the Valiants by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Offensively, the Maccabees were helmed by
Ashley Botnick and
Shany Elmaleh, with Botnick leading the team with two kills while Elmaleh tallied two assists.
On the defensive end, Yeshiva saw stellar performances out of
Candace Villavicencio and
Elle Ohayon, as Villavicencio notched a career-high mark of two blocks and Ohayon scooped up seven digs.
With the loss, the Macs are now 2-6, 0-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees struggled early on, seeing just one kill in the first set and dropping the period, 25-7.
- Undeterred by their slow start, Yeshiva rebounded in the second set, jumping out to a 5-4 lead. However, while the score remained tied through 7-7, Manhattanville seized back control of the contest, taking the set, 25-12.
- While YU managed to close within four points at 10-6 come the third set, they were no match for the high-flying Valiant attack, losing the final period, 25-6.
