BROOKLYN, NY - Suffering their second consecutive conference road loss, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell to St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, losing to the Bears by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
On the offensive side of the ball, Yeshiva's lone goal came off the right foot of
Ivan Zirlinger.
Defensively,
Kellian Marty had a solid night for the Maccabees, facing down 22 shots and making seven saves.
With the loss, the Macs are now 3-4-1, 3-3-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brooklyn struck early, scoring in the 14th minute to go up 1-0.
- SJBK extended their lead in the 64th minute, going up 2-0 after sneaking the ball past Marty.
- YU finally got on the board with just over eight minutes to play, when a Zirlinger strike zipped past the outstretched hand of the keeper to cut the Maccabee deficit to 2-1.
- While Yeshiva managed two more shots as the final minutes ticked away, neither found paydirt. When the final horn sounded, YU walked away with a 2-1 loss.
- The Maccabees were not without their chances to score again. Including Zirlinger's missile, YU had 11 shots on the day, six of which were on goal.
