Women’s Tennis Blanks Mount Saint Mary in Penultimate Regular Season Match

QUEENS, NY - Taking on their second to last opponent of the regular season, the Yeshiva Women's Tennis Team downed Mount Saint Mary College, sweeping the Knights by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

The Maccabees started off strong in doubles play, winning two of the three matches to go into singles up, 1-0. Yeshiva carried that same momentum into singles play, capturing all six matchups for a clean 7-0 win.

About the win, Coach Miller had to say, "a real team effort, I couldn't be more proud!"

With the result, the Macs are now 3-4 on the season, 2-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
  • The Maccabees saw two decisive wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 seeded matches, with the duos of Sarah Leiderman/Anna Laufer (6-2) and Sarah Grunseid/Eliana Tilem (7-6) both coming out on top.

  • YU's only loss came in the No. 1 slot, when the duo of Shira Adler/Gabrielle Resnick were outlasted, 7-6.

  • Despite a loss in the top spot, the Macs' two wins were enough to secure the double point, going into singles play up, 1-0.

Singles:
  • Yeshiva continued their domination in singles play, cutting through their opponents like a hot knife through butter. Adler (6-1, 6-1), Micka Mimoun (7[7]-6[5], 6-2), Leiderman (6-0, 6-1), Laufer (6-3, 6-2), Grunseid (6-1, 6-0) and Resnick (6-2, 6-1) all came out on top in straight sets, securing the 7-0 win for the Maccabees.
