HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva fell behind early in set one, trailing 12-3 15 serves into the period. While kills from Sasha Aaron managed to get YU's point total to double digits, the effort was not enough to overcome SJLI's attack, as the Macs fell, 25-10.
- The Maccabees started set two strong, jumping out to an early 7-5 thanks to Ohayon leading the offensive charge. SJLI surged however, snatching away the lead at 13-12. From there, YU could not recover, ultimately dropping the period, 25-13.
- The two teams played much of the third set deadlocked. SJLI was able to scrape out some breathing room, going up 18-15, only for the Macs to come roaring back with a 5-0 run, seizing a 21-18 advantage. The Golden Eagles would not simply lay down, securing a match point at 24-23. However, three straight YU points gave the Maccabees not only the lead, but the set, with Yeshiva triumphing, 26-24.
- Despite their impressive third set, the Macs were unable to maintain that same momentum in the fourth. Throughout the period. YU managed just two kills, falling by a score of 25-9.
