BROOKLYN, NY - Playing in their penultimate road game, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell at St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, losing to the Bears by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd.
Offensively, Yeshiva's lone goal came off the right foot of
Ivan Zirlinger, assisted by fellow striker
Hadar Lavinsky.
On the defensive side of the ball, keeper
Aiden Zrihen tallied five saves while facing down 12 shots.
With the result, the Maccabees are now 1-6-4, 1-4-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoring opened up almost immediately, with SJBK taking a 1-0 lead less than 30 seconds into the contest.
- The Maccabees responded in the 31st minute. After fielding a pass into the box from Lavinsky, Zirlinger beat two sliding Bear defenders and poked the ball past the keeper, tying the game at 1-1.
- SJBK broke the deadlock nine minutes later, taking a 2-1 lead into the break.
- Despite leveling 17 shots at the SJBK keeper, the Macs could not find paydirt in the second half. The Bears took full advantage of those struggles, scoring twice more to close out the game, 4-1.
- The Maccabees were not without their chances to score. Yeshiva outshot their opponent by a significant margin, putting up 29 to SJBK's 12, including a 15-9 shot on goal margin. However, despite having arguably the more effective attack, the Macs could not find the back of the net in the latter 60 minutes of play.
