NORTH ARLINGTON, NJ - Playing their final home game of the 2025 season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell to the University of Mount Saint Vincent, losing to the Dolphins by a score of 3-2 on Sunday, Oct. 26th.
Before the game, the Macs took the opportunity to thank their graduating seniors, honoring:
David Abittan,
Eli Suli,
Yaakov Pahmer,
Tanaka Maramba,
Israel Bussu, and
Aiden Zrihen.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by the pair of
Omri Vashdi and
Hadar Lavinsky, with both players finding the back of the net for Yeshiva.
On the defensive side of the ball, Zrihen stood firm in goal, facing down 23 shots and tallying two saves.
With the result, the Macs are now 1-7-4, 1-5-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both squads were held scoreless through the first half, with the board reading 0-0 come the break. YU's defensive unit put up an impressive performance, holding an undefeated UMSV squad that averages 3.07 goals per game without a goal through the first 45 minutes of play.
- The floodgates finally broke in the 53rd minute, when the Dolphins tallied their first goal, going up 1-0.
- However, Yeshiva responded just nine minutes later. After receiving a deep pass from defender Ilan Ganem, Vashdi weaved through a pair of defenders in the box, slicing the ball past the keeper to tie the match at 1-1.
- UMSV broke the deadlock in the 81st minute, chipping a ball past Zrihen's outstretched hand for a 2-1 advantage.
- Despite their deficit, the Maccabees kept pushing, and were rewarded less than a minute after UMSV's second score. After drawing a foul in the box, Lavinsky buried the subsequent penalty shot in the upper right hand corner, once again leveling the score, this time at 2-2.
- Unfortunately for Yeshiva, the Dolphins found paydirt one more time in the 87th minute, scoring a third and decisive goal. Held without another shot through the final three minutes of play, the Macs ultimately fell, 3-2.
