Women’s Volleyball Drops Match to UMSV

BRONX, NY - Playing up at Lehman College, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell to the University of Mount Saint Vincent, losing to the Dolphins by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 30th.

Offensively, the Maccabees were led by Progress Gasa and Eden Fitoussi, with each player tallying three kills on the night.

Fitoussi also had a stellar night on the defensive side of the ball, proving a wall at the net with three blocks.

With the result the Macs are now 2-12, 0-9 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Maccabees struggled in set one. While kills from Noa Benhamo and Gasa managed to push the YU point total into the double digits, the Macs still fell, 25-11.

  • Yeshiva's offense got in gear in set number two, jumping out to an early 5-2 lead behind kills from Fitoussi and Elle Ohayon. This edge lasted through the next 19 serves, with the Macs up by two points at 13-11. However, a 4-0 UMSV run would erase YU's advantage, one they would not be able to regain. The Maccabees continued to fight, drawing within three at 23-20, but could not complete the comeback, ultimately losing by a score of 25-20.

  • Despite taking a fast 6-5 lead, the Macs' offense stalled in set three. After falling behind 17-6, Yeshiva could not recover, managing just one more kill and dropping the period, 25-11.
