NEW YORK, NY - Kicking off October on the road, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, losing to the Mariners by a score of 4-0 on Sunday, Oct. 5th.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw four players record a shot on goal, with
Franco Busso,
Joaquin Merajver,
Omri Vashdi and
Barel Lavinsky all placing the ball on target.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Aiden Zrihen had a stellar outing, tallying 12 saves while facing 33 shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva fell behind early in the first half, as USMMA recorded two goals by the 17th minute. The Macs had their chances to respond, placing shots on goal in the 17th, 21st and 45th minutes, but all three attempts were turned away. With their offense unable to find paydirt, YU carried a 2-0 deficit into the half.
- The Macs' luck did not change in the second half. The Mariners increased their lead to 4-0 just 15 ticks into the period, sneaking balls past Zrihen in the 59th and 62nd minutes. Yeshiva managed five shots on the half, yet all five were handled by the USMMA defense. When the final horn sounded, the Macs had fallen to their conference foe, 4-0.
