KINGS POINT, NY - Taking the court for the final time in 2025, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, losing to the Mariners by a score of 78-35 on Wednesday, Dec. 17th.
The Maccabees were led on both sides of the ball by
Naomi Sigman, with the junior forward putting up a stat line of nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
With the result, the Macs are now 1-9, 0-6 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees struggled in the first quarter, only managing three points. USMMA took full advantage, going up 27-3.
- Yeshiva's attack roared into gear come the second quarter, tallying 20 points behind baskets from Sigman, Danielle Zaretsky, Eliana Leitner, Fortune Hanan, and Ilana Schwartz. However, the Macs could only do so much to make up for lost ground, still trailing by 25 at 48-23 headed into the half.
- Unfortunately, the Macs could not maintain their second quarter momentum in the second half, only notching 12 points across the 20 minutes of game time. When the final horn sounded, YU had fallen, 78-35.
