Women’s Basketball Downed at UMSV

RIVERDALE, NY - Still looking for the first Skyline win, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to the University of Mount Saint Vincent, losing to the Dolphins by a score of 80-47 on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd.

Offensively, the Maccabees were led by Jasmin Maly-Danker, with the senior guard posting nine points on the night.

On the defensive side of the ball, YU saw a stellar performance out of Fortune Hanan, with the paint specialist notching two blocks and snagging two rebounds.

With the result, the Macs are now 1-5, 0-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite trailing by just one point at 5-4 two and a half minutes into the first quarter, the  Maccabees quickly found themselves in a significant hole. YU only tallied four more points, falling behind 22-8 by the time the period ended.

  • The Maccabee offense finally found its groove in the second quarter, breaking their point total into the double digits and all the way out to 20 behind buckets from Tali Cohen, Hannah Rashty, and Naomi Sigman. However, while YU managed to put up 12 points, they could not chip away at their deficit, with UMSV notching 12 of their own. When the halftime horn sounded, Yeshiva trailed, 34-20.

  • The Maccabee offense continued to hum in the third quarter, amassing 13 points off of 5-12 shooting. Despite the effort though, it could not match UMSV's output, with the Dolphins increasing their lead to 23 at 56-33.

  • Yeshiva had their most successful offensive quarter in the fourth, scoring 14 points thanks to the sharpshooting of Maly-Danker, Simone Amkraut, and Eliana Leitner. Unfortunately, the same could be said for UMSV. The Dolphins totaled 24 points over the final 10 minutes, with the Maccabees ultimately falling, 80-47.
