PURCHASE, NY - A rematch of a close game just four days ago, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell at Manhattanville University, losing to the Valiants by a score of 61-26 on Sunday, Feb. 16th.
The Maccabees were led on the afternoon by
Daniella Bessler, with the Massachusetts native putting up a team-high statline of 12 points, eight rebounds and one block.
With the result, the Macs are now 4-18, 4-13 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva's defensive unit thrived in the first quarter, forcing seven turnovers and holding the Valiants to just nine points. However, the Maccabee offense could not match that same production, managing just three points over 10 minutes.
- The Macs managed to crack a double-digit point total in the second quarter, seeing all eight points come from Bessler. However, the effort was not enough to match Manhattanville's attack, with YU headed into the half down, 24-11.
- Yeshiva's deficit continued to grow in the third quarter, putting up just five points to Manhattanville's 18. The women in black found themselves down by a score of 42-16 going into the final period.
- By far their most effective quarter offensively, the Maccabees scored 10 points in the fourth off of buckets from Bessler, Naomi Sigman, Jasmin Maly-Danker and Mia Denti. However, this surge was not enough to erase Manhattanville's indelible hold on the contest, with the Macs ultimately falling, 61-26.
