PURCHASE, NY - Taking on their second conference foe of the season, the Yeshiva Baseball Team lost to Purchase College, dropping a double header to the Panthers by scores of 22-1 and 13-0 on Sunday, Mar. 16th.
The Maccabees were led offensively by
Jake Arnow, with the sophomore catcher putting up two hits and a run in game one.
From the mound, the Macs saw stellar performance out of
Jacob Shakin, as the Great Neck native allowed just one hit and one run while tallying a strikeout over 1.0 innings pitched.
With the losses, the Macs are now 0-8, 0-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 22-1)
- Yeshiva struggled through the first three innings, failing to reach base while Purchase tallied 10 runs.
- The Maccabees finally broke through in the top of the fourth. Arnow tripled to center field, and then was brought in by a Shakin groundout, notching YU's first and ultimately only run of the afternoon.
- The Macs were not without their chances to rack up more scores, putting runners on second and third in the top of the sixth with two outs before ultimately stranding them with a strikeout.
- Unable to contain Purchases' offense, Yeshiva fell, 22-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 13-0)
- Yeshiva's best chance to score came early in game two, with Mendy Kanofsky reaching second off a Samuel Weisman two-out single. However, both runners would be left out on the pond when Assaf Perl popped out to second base.
- Much like game one, the Macs were not able to quiet the Panther bats, ultimately dropping the contest, 13-0.
