NEW YORK, NY - Taking part in their only non-double header of the season, the Yeshiva Baseball Team fell to the City College of New York, losing to the Beavers by a score of 24-3 on Friday, Mar. 21st.
Â
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Jake Arnow with the catcher recording two hits, one run, and one stolen base, including his fourth triple of the season.
Â
With the result, the Macs are now 0-9 on the year.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabee offense struggled to get going, managing just four baserunners through the first five innings. Yeshiva's pitching staff experienced similar hardships, allowing 21 runs in that same stretch.
Â
- Yeshiva finally broke through in the top of the sixth. Arnow opened the inning with a triple deep into right field, setting up a Shakin groundout to bring him home for YU's first run.
Â
- The Macs tallied another pair of runs in the seventh, when Noah Steimmetz was brought in by an Assaf Perl double, and Perl scored on an error by the CCNY second baseman.
Â
- Unfortunately, that is where YU's offensive success would come to an end, ultimately dropping the contest, 24-3.
