TEANECK, NJ - Fitting in a pair of games before Shabbos, the Yeshiva Baseball Team dropped a doubleheader to Manhattanville University, losing to the Valiants by scores of 7-0 and 30-3 on Friday, Mar. 28th.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Jake Arnow, with the Freshman phenom notching three hits and an RBI across the two contests.
From the mound, Yeshiva saw a stellar outing from
Eli Zirdok, with the Brooklyn native allowing just two earned runs over 5.1 innings pitched in game one.
With the losses, the Macs are now 0-13, 0-8 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 7-0)
- The two sides were deadlocked through the first four innings, with the scoreboard reading 0-0 come the top of the fifth. Much of YU's defensive dominance can be credited to Zirdok, with the pitcher allowing just four hits across 17 batters.
- However, cracks in Yeshiva's wall began to form, with the Macs conceding a run in both the fifth and sixth innings. Finally, the dam broke, with YU allowing five Manhattanville runners to stomp on home in the seventh.
- Yeshiva were not without their chances to score. In the bottom of the sixth, the Macs had men on second and third with just one out. However, a double-play ground ball ended the inning, leaving the runners stranded.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 30-3)
- Unlike the first game, the Maccabee defense was unable to keep the Valiant bats at bay in game two, conceding seven runs in the first inning, two in the second, eight in the third, three in the fourth, seven in the sixth, and three in the seventh.
- A bright spot came in the form of Yeshiva's offensive production, with Mac batters driving in a trio of runs. Jacob Shakin and Jacob Canner scored in the bottom of the first off a Noah Steinmetz stand-up double, while an Arnow triple brought Zirdok home in the seventh.
- The Macs' next best chance to put up more runs came in the fifth, only to see it undone when a two-out groundout stranded the runners on first and second.
