PALISADES PARK, NJ - Taking on their first Skyline opponent of the season, the Yeshiva Baseball Team fell to St. Joseph's University Long Island, dropping a doubleheader to the Golden Eagles by scores of 14-1 and 29-1 on Friday, Mar. 7th.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Assaf Perl and
Coby Kamish, with Kamish notching Yeshiva's lone score in game one, while Perl proved the only Maccabee to cross home in game two.
From the mound, YU saw stellar performances out of
Jacob Shakin and
Yehuda Speyer, with both pitching hitless and scoreless innings in game two, while Shakin tallied a strikeout.
With the result, the Macs are now 0-4, 0-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game One (L, 14-1)
- Despite not managing to get on base through the first three innings, the Maccabees kept the game close, with the score tied at 0-0 at the top of the fourth. It was in the fourth however that SJLI finally got on the board, putting up four runs.
- Yeshiva responded with their first run of this season, with Kamish stomping on home plate off of a Shakin groundout, putting the scoreline at 4-1.
- Unfortunately, this score proved YU's only one of the contest, with the Mac offense unable to respond to SJLI's 10 runs over the latter three innings.
- Yeshiva's next best chance came in the bottom of the fourth, when Kamish reached second with no outs, but was ultimately left stranded on third.
