BROOKDALE, NY - Kicking off April with an emphatic win, the Yeshiva Men's Tennis Team downed Purchase College, dominating the Panthers by a score of 6-0 on Tuesday, Apr. 1st.
Yeshiva started off strong in doubles play, winning two of the three matches to carry the point and a 1-0 lead into singles. The Macs did not let up in their singles contests, taking victories in all five finished matches to secure their 6-0 win.
With the result, the Macs are now 6-3, 4-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
- Yeshiva faltered in their No. 1 doubles match, seeing the pair of Matan Kamhi/Jacob Feit force the contest to tie breakers, but ultimately fall, 7-6 (7-1).
- Despite this stumble, the Macs quickly regained their footing, as the duos of David Cattan/Eithan Sapir (6-3) and Jacob Pfeifer/Mark Adler (6-1) locked down definitive wins, capturing the doubles point for YU.
Singles:
- The Maccabees carried that momentum into singles play, as Kamhi (6-4, 6-4), Cattan (6-2, 6-1), Israel Bussu (6-4, 6-2), Feit (6-2, 6-3), and Adler (6-2, 6-0) all downed their opponents in straight sets.
- The only match that did not end after two sets was Pfeifer's in the No. 2 slot, but that contest was called early and left unfinished.
- With the results, the Macs secured a dominant 6-0 win over their conference rival.
