HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set one opened with a Massimo kill from a set by Trabelsi, putting the Macs on the board first, but Purchase responded with a series of kills and service aces, quickly building a lead of 5-1. Despite efforts from Frohlich and Werta, Yeshiva struggled with attack errors, allowing the Panthers to extend their advantage to 14-4. A late push from Yeshiva, including a Bertini kill and capitalizing on a few Purchase errors, wasn't enough to shift the momentum. The Panthers closed out the set with a block on Werta, securing a 25-12 victory.
- Set two was a back-and-forth battle early on, with Yeshiva keeping pace with Purchase before the Panthers pulled away late. The Macs started strong, with Bertini and Shklyar picking up early kills, while Purchase capitalized on service errors keeping the score close at 5-3. Yeshiva managed to tie the set at 7-7 after a kill from Shklyar and an error from Purchase, but the Panthers responded with a dominant stretch, rattling off five straight points to take a 12-7 lead. Despite some key plays from Werta and Frohlich, the Macs struggled with consistency, allowing Purchase to extend their advantage. Trailing 24-16, Yeshiva mounted a late rally with an ace from Shklyar and an attack error from Purchase, cutting the deficit to 24-20. However, the Panthers closed out the set with a kill, securing a 25-20 victory and a 2-0 match lead.
- Set three started with Yeshiva taking an early lead off a service ace from Trabelsi, but Purchase quickly responded with a strong offensive surge. The Panthers built a 6-1 advantage behind multiple kills. The Macs attempted to regain momentum, with Werta delivering a service ace and Bertini finding success at the net. A service ace from Solomon and a kill from Shklyar kept Yeshiva in the set, bringing the score to 15-8. However, Purchase continued to capitalize on errors and strung together points with a well-rounded attack. Despite late efforts from the Macs, including kills from Bertini and Werta, the Panthers' serving proved to be a difference-maker. Three consecutive service aces extended the lead to 24-13. Yeshiva managed to fight off set point twice with a kill from Frohlich and a block from Shklyar and Anina, but Purchase sealed the set 25-15, completing the 3-0 match sweep.
