Softball Puts Up Quintet of Runs in Loss to Sarah Lawrence

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Taking on their final opponent before Passover, the Yeshiva Softball Team fell to Sarah Lawrence College, dropping a double header to the Gryphons by scores of 10-0 and 15-5 on Sunday, Apr. 6th.

The Maccabees were led by the duo of Alyssa Feldman and Allison Bender, with Feldman tallying two runs and two hits across the two contests, while Bender put up two hits and two RBIs in game two.

With the result, the Macs are now 1-19, 0-10 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 10-0)
  • Yeshiva's offense struggled in game one, only managing four hits. Simone Amkraut singled to center field in the second inning, Galit Roth singled to right field in the fourth, and Zahava Moskowitz and Feldman smacked a pair of base hits in the bottom of the fifth.

  • YU's best chance to score came in the bottom of the fifth, when the aforementioned pair of hits combined with an error to load the bases with two outs. However, a groundout to the shortstop not only left all three runners stranded, but ended the game.

  • Unfortunately, the Macs' pitching staff could not keep Sarah Lawrence in check, allowing one run in the first, two in the fifth, one in the third and three in the fourth, resulting in a 10-0 loss for the Maccabees.

MAC LEADERS
  • Hits: Feldman (1), Roth (1), Amkraut (1), Moskowitz (1)
  • Strikeouts: Greenberg (2)

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 15-5)
  • The Maccabee bats found much more success in game two, putting up a new season high in conference play of five runs. Feldman led the way with two runs, crossing home in both the first inning and the fourth, while Moskowitz scored in the fifth, and Roth and Ariella Addi scored in the sixth.

  • However, the effort was not enough to match Sarah Lawrence's output, as the Gryphons tallied three runs in the first, three in the third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the fifth, downing the Maccabees, 15-5.

MAC LEDERS
  • Runs: Feldman (2), Moskowitz (1), Addi (1), Roth (1)
  • Hits: Moskowitz (2), Addi (2), Bender (2), Finn (2), Cagan (2)
