LYNDHURST, NJ - Taking on their final road conference opponent, the Yeshiva Baseball Team fell at St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, dropping a doubleheader to the Bears by scores of 9-5 and 13-7 on Friday, May. 2nd.
The Maccabees were led by
Jake Arnow and
Jacob Shakin, with Arnow tallying two hits and two RBIs in game one, while Shakin notched three hits and three runs in game two.
With the results, the Macs are now 1-25, 0-18 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 9-5)
- Yeshiva fell behind early in game one, seeing the Bears put up two runs through the first three innings to go up, 2-0.
- It was in the top of the fourth that the Maccabees finally broke through. Loading the bases with just one out, YU took full advantage of shaky SJBK pitching, with Shakin walking home while both Assaf Perl and Noam Ouanounou scored on wild pitches, a sequence that gave the Macs a 3-2 lead.
- That advantage would evaporate after YU gave up four runs in the bottom of the inning, falling behind, 6-3.
- Undeterred, Yeshiva continued to fight, scoring two more in the fifth. Kamish and Hellman were brought in by a pair of hits from Arnow and Oaunounou, closing the gap between the two squads to just one at 6-5.
- However, these runs would prove the last of the contest for YU, with the Macs falling in seven by a score of 9-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 13-7)
- The Macs drew first blood in game two, as Noah Steinmetz scored on a Shakin sacrifice fly to put YU up 1-0 in the top of the first.
- Yeshiva's lead would not last however, as the Bears tied the game at 1-all in the bottom of the inning before scoring seven more in the second to go up, 8-1.
- YU's deficit grew in the fourth, with the Bears tacking on three additional runs for an 11-1 edge.
- The Maccabees struck back in the top of the sixth, as the trio of Jacob Canner, Aharon Weiden and Shakin all crossed home to close the margin to 11-4.
- While the Macs wracked up three more runs throughout the final three innings, seeing two more from Shakin and a second from Weiden, the effort was not enough to usurp SJBK's hold on the game, with the Maccabees falling by a score of 13-7.
