NEWARK, NJ - Taking on their final non-conference opponent of the season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell at Rutgers-Newark, losing to the Crimson Raiders by a score of 9-1 on Sunday, August 31st.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw a goal off the right foot of star striker
Franco Busso, YU's first score of the season.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Abraham Gabay tallied five saves on the evening.
With the loss, the Macs fall to 0-2 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva jumped out to an early lead just five minutes into the contest. The Macs capitalized fully on a foul by Rutgers' keeper inside the box, with Busso executing the subsequent penalty kick to perfection to put YU up, 1-0.
- However, the Macs' advantage would not last. Rutgers tallied eight goals over the next 30 minutes of play, closing out the half up, 8-1.
- Yeshiva continued to push throughout the second half, seeing shots on goal by both Busso and Tanaka Maramba. Unfortunately, the efforts were all turned away, with the Macs headed back to Washington Heights with a 9-1 loss.
