Monster Game From Lavinsky Powers Men’s Soccer to Draw With Manhattanville

NORTH ARLINGTON, NJ - Still searching for their first win of the season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team drew with Manhattanville University, tying the Valiants 2-2 on Thursday, Sept. 11th.

Offensively, the Maccabees saw a huge night from Hadar Lavinsky, with the Brazilian tallying two goals on the night.

On the defensive side of the ball, keeper Ilan Ganem had a stellar night, notching two saves on 16 shots faced.

With the result, the Macs are now 0-3-2, 0-1-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Yeshiva came roaring out of the gate, applying almost immediate pressure on the Manhattanville defensive unit. This effort found paydirt in the 16th minute, when Lavinsky, after receiving a beautiful pass from David Abittan, effortlessly curled a shot into the upper right hand corner of the goal, putting the Macs up, 1-0.

  • Riding the hot hand (or foot), the Maccabees scored again just eight minutes later, when Lavinsky rocketed in a free kick from just outside the box, increasing YU's advantage to 2-0. This scoreline would hold into the break, with the Macs riding a two-goal lead into halftime.

  • Intent on maintaining their edge, Yeshiva shifted into a defensive formation, dropping five defenders to stave off the Manhattanville attack. However, the Valiants found a way through the Maccabee wall, scoring in both the 55th minute and the 67th minute to tie the match at 2-all.

  • From there, the score would remain deadlocked. After Manhattanville's second goal, each squad managed just one more shot, neither of which was on target. When the final horn sounded, both sides were knotted up at two goals apiece.

MAC LEADERS
